The Community Arts movement of the 70s and 80s has a plenty to teach current practitioners. However, Gerri Moriarty and Alison Jeffers felt that this past was being forgotten and with it a huge potential resource for artists who work within the community, sharing art as a tool for expression and a means of change.
This film documents a day of workshops organised by Moriarty and Jeffers, bringing together practitioners, past and present, to spark discussion and share knowledge on the Community Arts Movement and how it compares to current practice.
The research gathered will go towards a new book which will inspire and inform a new generation of community artists. To follow the pair’s research and contribute to it, follow their blog here; communityartsunwrapped.com/
